Southfield Primary and Nursery School

What is FOSS?‘Friends of Southfield school’ is Southfield’s Parent Teacher Association. It is a voluntary group, which raises money for the benefit of the children at Southfield school, by holding fun fundraising activities.

Who are FOSS? As parents of the children at Southfield, you are all members, but the present committee is made of the following...

What have we achieved? We are really pleased to be able to announce that thanks to all your help to raise money and offers of help to help run events we have enough money to be able to replace the existing sound system in the hall!!  The old, worn out system is going to be completely replaced with a new, modern set up which will include an ipod dock, a portable system and roving spotlights for the stage!! This will benefit our children in many ways and also hopefully enable us to have movie nights!!!  So on behalf of FOSS - THANK YOU AND WELL DONE!!!!

In the previous year we have refurbished the school library to make it more inviting and enjoyable experience for our children to learn about and enjoy reading books.

What we hope to achieve? Our present fundraising efforts are aimed at purchasing new ICT equipment and upgrades, including the goal of purchasing enough tablets to have 2 per class to make sure our children get the most out of learning about and using ICT equipment.

Recent events: FOSS has organised a Chinese themed disco, a bingo night, a coffee morning and after school cake sale, plant sales... and we  have more events coming up!!

Planned Events:  Up-coming events include:

 Friday 17th May - Summer Disco!!! Wear your favourite summer outfit and sunglasses if you like!!  Your children can too!!  Times for the discos are KS1 5.30-6.30 and KS2 6.45-7.45.  The price is £2 per child and you can pay at the door!!  Please fill out and bring the slips which were taken home in bookbags.

Thursday 6th-Wednesday 12th June - Come along to the Book Fair and take a look!!  The starting time is 3.20pm so feel free to pop in and purchase any books you like the look of before you carry on home!!!  Anyone who feels they can help on one of the days, please contact us at FOSS or leave your name at the office.

 Friday 5th July - The Summer Fayre!  Come along for the Southfield School event of the summer!! Lets make it a wonderful get together and have fun raising money for our amazing school!  There will be various stalls (tbc on stall list), refreshments and hopefully lots of smiley happy faces!  We will be asking for help at this event so I know its not until July but if you feel you would like to sign up and help, please let FOSS know or leave your name with the office.  Closer to the time we will have a sheet to sign up against for any time you can spare.  The more helpers we have the more fun stalls we can have!!

What can you do to help? We need you to come along & support us, to help make these events successful. If you would like to help at any fundraising event or have any fundraising ideas please leave your contact details at the school office or email us on the email address below.

Webshop: If you shop ‘on line’ with major high street and web retailers, you can raise money for Southfield simply by clicking on, www.spendandraise.com/friendsofsouthfieldschool. It’s safe & costs nothing extra to do. You will be receiving a handy card to keep by your computer to remind you to use the webshop each time you shop!

Time, date & venue of next FOSS meeting: Monday 17th June - 7.30pm in the bar at the Crown Hotel in the Market Square.  New faces always welcome!!!!!!!!!!!
