On Wednesday 15th March 2017, 21 children represented Southfield Primary Academy at Woodford Halse Cross Country.
We had some great results. In the year 3/4 boys race, Monty, year 4, came 5th out of 212 boys. Other runners included; Billy, Callum, George, Brodie, Toby and Freddie. The boy’s great results meant that we came third overall. Monty said, “It was very hard but I feel proud of myself. I was surprised to see that I had to jump over a stream! I slipped but got back up again. I would definitely do it again.” Callum added “Doing the mile run each helped as you get used to the feeling of running a mile and the energy it needs.”
Jamie led the way home for the Southfield 3/4 girls coming in 27th out of 200. She was followed by Ola, Paige and Lilly. Ola commented that she felt that doing the mile a day at school helped her to continue running for longer.
The year 5 and 6 teams also put in a great effort along the muddy and at time slippery course. The Southfield girls were led home by Kasey in 31st place and it was Joseph who was back first for the boys in 22nd place. Well done to Thomas, Harry, Alex, Ben, Courtney, Olivia, India and Caitlin.
Thank you staff and parents who accompanied the children to this event.
